Just half-an-hours drive away from us, is what is known as Walpole Water Gardens. I had lived nearer until 20 months ago, yet never went to look at it until recently. Okay, it was winter time and dark, but I popped over yesterday in Daylight, while I was close by on another matter that I had to get sorted. What a surprse I got when I got to get the following photograph? I knew there are some there, yet never expected to get so close. This is nothing near as close as the next one though and yes I was bit weary of it.
This is the one that I was weary of and for obvious reasons. It was on some eggs and they can be extremely viscious so I have been advised.
As well as the swans, there are about 10 cats and here is one I fell in Love with.

Black swans, lucky you seeing them and getting such wonderful pics too.
I can understand why you were cautious near the nesting one! I've heard that one can break your arm with a snap of its beak
I watched the video in the link you gave and it is a truly beautiful and peaceful place - even in winter, as your pics show.
Love the cats - of course, I would, as my name proves
Now that you have finally been there, you'll no doubt make a point of going every so often in future. I think you'll find different things to see and photograph in all seasons.

Going back again tonight, because the Wisbech MRC are holding the AGM there by Invitation. They have Peacocks, fish, other birds and reptiles, but sadly No snakes.

I went again today, but never took one photo despite the beautiful weather and I could have got one of a Black Swan close up and less than 3 feet away, plus a male Peacock in Beautiful colours just 6 feet away. I walked right beside a Peahen without it even as much as flinching. I will be going again, so if I can get any good photo's, I will.
