Kedi .... he is a beauty. I've seen plenty a slug, but never a leopard slug.

We've plenty of big ol' yellow banana slug in the hills here.

Lovely shot Kedi. The top one almost rather alien. But how did you manage to get that bottom one? You know I've tried to take shots from underneath like you have.... but I haven't been very successful.

My grandfather and uncle used to go up into the mountains and pick mushrooms all the time. My grandmother would put them up. They were delicious...just glad I lived to talk about it .. :)

Well ............ someone liked my corn. Granted it was going to be a crop of small ears of corn. Small is not a problem, you just eat two or three ears. And that is exactly what the squirrels did.

Within a matter of two days my corn was gone ... stocks on the ground ... tender unripe kernels scattered about ... corn hair still silky and smooth strewn about the garden. I walked out to my garden on the day of discovery, at first amused by black squirrel I saw stretched out up top of the fence ... just taking in the sun and the quiet. He took off as I got closer to the garden area .......... and that was a very good choice on his part. Well I knew there was nothing that could be done and that our adopted pets would be back for a second helping, and early the next morning they finished dining on my unfortunate corn.

The squirrels in our neighborhood are really aggressive and fat little critters. Did I mention that they are all my sunflowers too and have helped themselves to my assorted squash and baby pumpkins.

My husband and I have since invested heavily in stakes and chickenwire.

Got to love 'em.

When I had Sparky, a collie/shepherd mix he used to eat all the pears, plums and nectarines on the lower branches. We called him our tootie-fruitie dog.

Dag,

I'm sure she is feeling sufficiently guilty ... ;)

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to just say that I'm not around much, not even on my own site (I did write my staff to explain) because I'm just at the moment having a hard time dealing with the fact that my son leaves for Afghanistan soon ... 3 months.

I feel kind of zapped of interest. I have continued taking pictures but just haven't done much with them. Basically I'm on the verge of tears constantly, although I'm told what I'm going through is normal.

Don't mean to be a downer ... but its been creeping up on me and now I have the full-blown pre-deployment anxiety.

Once my son leaves, his tour will last until July of 2010. Communication will sometimes be hard, but I'm told that he will have opportunities to email and call as often as possible, so that will be good.

Right now he'll soon be starting another round of combat training and at some point before deployment he will get two weeks leave and he'll be home.

... So I thought I'd let you all know ... they keep telling me I should talk and get it out...

Jeanne
